Give Small Gifts [Healthcare Compliance Tips]

Give small gifts to show employee appreciation.

Did you know, per a Randstad survey, the top reason for leaving a job is due to lack of recognition (29%)?

Therefore, giving small gifts to show employee appreciation, goes hand in hand with our previous tip called “celebrate compliance wins.”

This area can be a little tricky because you don’t want it to appear that you are bribing your staff to maintain compliance.

However, small gifts can still be given as an overall effort to show appreciation for being an individual or team player.  Examples of small gifts are:

  • $5 fast food or coffee gift cards.
  • Favorite items from a pre-determined list created by the employee.
  • Mini-size candy or home-made dessert baskets
  • Branded gifts from the practice.
  • Dedicated parking spots.

As a bonus, the more creative you are, the more likely your employees will see you put thought behind it and even share their joy with other people (i.e., patients, friends, family).

Again, this is not a bribe type of situation, but you want to find ways to show the employee that they are appreciated and thought of.
